I've never used them before, but I bet they do work though. I like the way they sit up high in the water once a fish has been hooked. Be a good idea to put neon paint, reflective tape, or a small plastic flag on one end for night fishing.

Them look pretty cool and easy to make. As far as a strike detector you'd have to not sink the line to the bottom and stay and watch them. Also they look like an eye attractor to get another passer-by to stop and check my jug lines, and when I catch them they say they were just checking them out and not hurting anything.

I think I'll just stick with my gallon size "white" bleach jugs. They are easy to see and in the waives some times look like you got something but don't, even seems like they are avoiding you while trying to grab them.

I've never used them but i see them all the time in the north end of Livingston. I occasionally see some that look like the have been in the water a long time, and looks like they have fish on them because they run away from the boat haha. I just stick to the trout lines. A little more work to put out but allot easier to check, and they are always were i left them.

One thing about them is they cover more water and would be fun to chase down ....we used white and yellow jugs years ago...
